Joselyn and Olivie’s love story began on a construction site in Rubavu, where they worked tirelessly to build a life together. After years of hard work and saving, they began constructing their home on a piece of land gifted by Olivie’s mother. But without proper walls, floors, or windows, their house remains unfinished and unsafe.
When their children, James and Jessica, were born, their finances became even tighter. Joselyn made the difficult decision to step back from work to care for her young children, using their limited savings to provide school uniforms and books to secure their education.
Today, both parents work tirelessly to support their family. Olivie labors as a porter, carrying heavy loads daily, while Joselyn divides her time between seasonal work with Inshuti and selling urusenda (hot peppers). Despite these hardships, Joselyn’s bubbly personality shines through. She is always smiling, joking, and helping others in her community. Yet, the dream of a safe home for her children remains close to her heart.
Inshuti of Rwanda is committed to empowering families like Joselyn’s by building safe, sustainable homes. With your help, we can turn her family’s house into a true sanctuary—a place where they can thrive
Joselyn's family
While organizing my first campaign, Rosa and Josi mentioned someone to me who, despite difficult living conditions, radiates positivity and never gives up on hard physical work. That person is Joselyn. Listening to how she and her husband strive to provide the best possible conditions for their children, I decided to help them in this effort. Her smile, which she keeps on her face despite tough moments, is a sign of strength and deserves respect. I look forward to the moment when Joselyn and her family move into the new house that we will renovate together.
Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to building a safe home for Joselyn's family—thank you for your support.

Joselyn is hard-working and one of the most reliable members of our Inshuti construction crews.
Joselyn and her family rely on this blue door, but its broken window and weak lock provide little security.
We love Joselyn for always smiling and keeping our Inshuti building sites light and happy!
Jessica proudly holds up six fingers, letting us know she's 6 years old!
This uneven dirt and rock floor makes cleaning difficult and puts the family’s health at risk.
