for Madangali
Madagali is an incredible woman. At a young age, she lost her parents. She moved in with her grandmother, alongside her two brothers, and had to overcome profound grief. She then married and had two children, Joy and Safi. Unfortunately, her husband was very abusive. He would kick her out of the house at night and make her sleep outside. Madangali was afraid and decided to leave for her children’s safety.
When Madangali left her husband, she searched for housing but couldn’t afford a well-maintained home. The family was often forced to seek shelter in abandoned buildings. Fortunately, her grandmother owned some land, and five years ago, her two brothers came together to construct a small, poorly built house for Madangali and her children.
Madanagali walks into Gisenyi to find work washing people’s clothes. If she lands a job, she earns about $1.50, but she only successfully finds work about two days a week. Madanagali has to save throughout the year to ensure Joy and Safi have school supplies to attend public school. She also has two young children to care for.
Unfortunately, the story of women enduring abuse from their husbands is common and I have seen friends suffer in silence. I was so moved by Madangali's heartbreaking story of abuse, resilience, and the power of hope. She lost her parents at a young age and has relied on her brothers to build her home away from her abusive husband. I have seen what women like Madangali endure to put their families first, and I want to help her end the cycle of abuse and create a new home for her children. With your support, we can help Madangali's family start over and feel safe in their home. Please help us build a new home for Madangali.
Please help us build a new home for Madangali. ❤️❤️ Sincerely, Roxie.
